(Day 2. Character Development.)
Diego was covered in dirt. He sighed softly and brushed his hands off. He'd been trying to repair the air conditioning in this ancient building. His mother's handy work and his father's determination were what drove him. It was damn hot here.
He wiped his brow and took a swig of water which was beside him.
He'd filled up a few bottles in a lake nearby. He was sure the water was safe. Whoever sent them their had to provide for them. There had been supermarkets, food and other things. Diego had found an abandoned apartment where he took up shelter. He liked it here but...he missed his family.

Melody walked into the building. She had just spent the whole day swimming. It helped clear her mind and cool herself. It was so hot here. What did the princess see? A redheaded boy fixing the air conditioning. "What are you doing?" she asked.

Diego looked up at the girl. He blew a bubble with his gum. "Fixin' this machine," he said, wiping his brow, "So dang hot over here. Gotta have some air condition." He raised an eyebrow. "Who're you?"

"I'm Melody." the princess replied. She looked over at the machine. "You're right about it being hot. It's sweltering here. It's good that someone knows how to fix things, huh?" It looked so complicated to fix this thing. The princess herself wasn't even sure how it worked.

That he couldn't help but smile at. He looked up at her and offered her a water bottle. "My name's Diego," he said with a nod, "Yeah, I'm good at fixin' stuff." He kicked the machine and the cool air blared out into the room. "Yes!"

Melody let out a sigh of relief. "Finally!" she said pumping her fist in the air. she turned to Diego. "Thanks. You're real good at fixing things." she told him, smiling.

Another girl, this one controversially older than Melody, stepped through the building's doorway. Nadia hadn't made an effort to talk to anyone else here yet - having spent most of the day before trying to find the parts to repair her solar surfboard, with no such luck - and figured now was as good a time as any to make herself known. She leant casually against the doorframe, board under one arm, as she looked over the two humans in front of her, whilst savouring the cool air from the just-repaired conditioning. She didn't speak to start with, waiting for one of the others to acknowledge her first.
And wondering why the other girl looked oddly familiar.

Melody turned to the new girl who just walked in. She didn't look familiar, well she did. "Hi." she greeted.Might as well introduce myself. she thought to herself. "I'm Melody. Who are you?"

"Nadia Hawkins." She replied shortly, swiping a strand of hair out of her eyes. Usually, the girl would stop there - not the most social of people, really - but the familiarity, coupled with the name...
"That's odd. Melody's mom's name." she commented, her blue eyes - the exact same shade as the other girl's - scrutinising this Melody closely. "You kinda look like her, too. What a coincidence."

"Yeah." Melody agreed. The whole "you look like my mother" thing got her thinking about what she would do if she had kids. "Y'know," she said a bit absent-mindedly ", If I had kids I wouldn't coop 'em up like my parents."

"Call me crazy..." she muttered. When Nadia was younger and she'd pressured her for stories, Mom had always talked about her parents keeping her cooped up in a castle for the early part of her life - and a transformation into a mermaid, among other events. Nadia shook her head. This Melody was younger than her - there was no way in the entire universe that she could be the same person as mom. Still, the similarities were so evident...
Either way, Nadia decided, she wasn't going to follow that line of thought any further. "Mind if I come in?" she asked, still leaning against the doorframe. "You two got it nice and cool in here."

Lidia slowly came into the room. She was a bit nervous to see other people here, but the air coming from the air conditioning was so nice and cool that she didn't really mind. Slowly she stepped up to join the group. "Um...uh..h-hi." she said with a tiny smile

Air. Ashton almost bowed to the air conditioner once he stumbled inside. For a moment, he was thankful his dad wasn't there. He'd probably make Ash give him a piggy back ride all the way to the ocean, or plot something to kill the sun. Either way, Ashton was relieved not to do that. That's when he noticed a rather small group, almost rejoicing at finding other people. "Oh, uh, hey, hope you don't mind me, uh, walking on in here." Ashton stammered.
Girls. The majority of the group here were girls. Great. Ash had gotten stuck here, and had to talk to girls now. Probably thought he was an idiot.

The girl flew by on her skateboard the wind (what little there was of it) hitting her face made her slightly cooler but she was still burning up. She was wearing her usual 'hot day' attire, a pair of shorts and a loose-fitting tee with her hair pulled back in a low messy ponytail. She saw a building nearby and hoped that it would be at least slightly cooler than the blistering heat ouside and skated inside of it. Coming to a halt before she hit the boy who also seemed to be just arriving. She got off her board and flipped it in her hands. "Ah, air... finally." She said mostly to herself. The California girl was used to the heat but that didn't exactly mean she liked it. "What's up?" She asked the small group.

Lidia was startled by the prescense of the two that had shown up. She was not used to being around so many people. Fittling her fingers nervously she took a deep breath. "It's nice to meet you..." she said trying to make her voice less squeaky. "I'm Lidia Jane, but my friends call me Lidia."
