YOUR PERSONALITY
Basic Personality: Flash is – deep inside, at least – a fun-loving and playful, if a bit shy, puppy. That, however, is not a side many people see. Outwardly, she seems rather guilt-ridden and extremely lacking in confidence, keeping herself to herself as much as possible – at least, until her friends are threatened. When that happens, Flash will go to any lengths to keep them from harm, even as far as allowing herself to get hurt in their place.
Likes: Her (very few) close friends, Video games (something she got from Uncle Lucky), howling at the moon
Dislikes: Anyone who would threaten or hurt her friends, hot weather
Fears: Her friends or family getting hurt because of her
Hopes and Dreams: Secretly, Flash hopes to one day settle down with mate, somewhere where they can live in peace and unthreatened, but she would never tell anyone that, feeling it to be a childish fantasy instead of something realistically achievable.
Temperament: She will prefer to keep herself to herself, and avoid new people. If someone takes the time to get to know her, she can be very friendly – and if someone threatens her friends, she will get angry very quickly.
YOUR STORY
History: After the war (see DWoW), against all odds, Angel and Patch found themselves back together, and once again in love. It didn’t take long for the two of them to mate, and Angel gave birth to a litter of three puppies. Flash – like her brothers – began life as a normal, playful puppy. That changed, however, when an old enemy from the war tracked dad down and fought him. Helpless, Flash could only watch the larger dog tear into her father’s flesh. While Patch did survive – thanks to the timely arrival of the dogcatcher – Flash felt horribly guilty for having been unable to do anything to anything to prevent him from getting hurt, believing herself to be a coward, which lends her the aura of self-pity she seems to carry, and the determination to prevent her family and friends getting hurt again.
One day, she was out with her best friend, Tally, when there was a flash of light, and she found herself inexplicably falling. On hitting the ground, she lost consciousness, and when she awoke, she found she was in some sort of forest, with Tally nowhere in sight. Unwilling to believe that her friend would just abandon her, Flash decided that – no matter how crazy it might sound – she had to have got here due to magic. Tally was probably safe at home wondering where she’d disappeared to. Since she was all alone here, Flash decided that she ought to make the best of it – but the broken rib she’d sustained during the fall didn’t seem to agree with her.
JUDGEMENT
Sample Post:
The two pups walked along in silence, Flash brooding over the morning’s events, although she could tell that beside her, Tally was getting impatient with her lack of speech. Finally, Flash sighed.
"I can't get it out of my head, Tally." she whispered. "If I'd been a few minutes earlier..."
The breath she heard Tally blow out was exasperated. "Ace is going to get himself into these fights no matter how hard you try." She replied. Her attempts at comforting her friend fell miserably flat.
"Then I need to try harder..." Flash began, eyes clouded with worry.
"What you NEED," Tally interrupted before Flash could resume wallowing in self-doubt, "if to take your mind off this. Get it out of your head that whenever Ace gets himself beat up that it's your fault.
“You need a guy." she added after a pause. "How do you feel about Kickstand or Siggy?"
Flash stared incredulously for a moment, and then shook her head, the beginnings of a smile briefly touching her muzzle. This was why Tally was such a great friend – she could always break her out of her guilt, at least for a time. She opened her mouth to thank the other pup – when Tally spoke again.
“What’s that?”
There was no time to ask what she was talking about before the bright light engulfed the two of them. There was a moment of pure panic, and the Flash’s vision cleared – and she was falling. And the ground was a long way down. She felt the wind whipping through her short fur, blowing her tuft of hair across her eyes. Flash flung both forepaws out to her sides in an effort to catch onto something – ANYTHING – to break her fall. For what seemed like forever, she kept on falling – until there was a sharp jerk that sent pain right down her right foreleg. Opening her eyes, she saw that her paw had got caught on the branch of a tree. She was still some distance from the ground, but close enough that a fall from this height would be painful, but not lethal. She sighed with relief, and glanced around her. She appeared to be in a forest of some sort – and there was no sign of Tally. She twisted to try and better see her surroundings – and then an ominous crack rang out, and before the pup knew it, she was plummeting towards the ground again, the broken branch still caught around her paw. Then came an impact, a sharp pain shot through her chest, and darkness claimed her.
